Using paint, ink, chalk and other materials to create personal renderings of emotional material is a uniquely human endeavor. I use a variety of common materials to create images to reflect upon that are spontaneous, one-of-a kind objects. I believe in struggling through multiple points of view. This involves looking at the conceptual (art as idea), figurative (art as symbol), and literal (art as object). Turning thoughts and feelings into images is a personal expression of relationships between an inner spiritual and an outer physical realm. Any meaning of the work is in the eye of the beholder. Projecting feeling and memory onto a flat surface is challenging. How can an object convey an expressive moment in time that is not bound by a single moment in time? Art is a dialog inviting continuous interpretation. Space, form, nature and light create movement from formless to form. Each mark seeks to ultimately find balance with the next. There is space for conflict and resolution, chaos and order, good and bad. Many views are valid. Choosing wisely is an ongoing process of continuous learning.
